MADRID TRAVEL GUIDE
Madrid is the capital of Spain, and is an amazing city. There is a certain something about the unique atmosphere in Madrid that is hard to explain. It is here that you can really understand the Spanish saying ‘Mi casa es tu casa’ (my house is your house). In Madrid you are not a tourist or a guest, but rather a long lost friend!
The main areas of the city are quite close together so, even though the metro system is very good, it is possible to walk to most of the main sights.
A great place to start your journey around Madrid is at Puerta del Sol to see ‘Kilometre Zero’, the place where distances are measured from, and to see the famous bear statue. Enjoy a stroll along Gran Via admiring the architecture of the buildings there, have a break in Plaza Mayor for a beer or a coffee, and then hit Madrid’s famous museums. After sharing some tapas with your friends, head to Chueca to party into the night.
